Spirit’s Rest is a faith-centered 501(c)3 non-profit organization started by a hospice chaplain that provides housing and around the clock compassionate care in a homelike setting to hospice patients in Virginia. Our goal is to give patients who can no longer stay at home a comfortable setting and dignity centered care focusing on quality of life during advanced illness and the end-of-life process so that they don’t have to spend their final days in a nursing home or hospital.
Adults over the age of 18 who are:
-currently working with a hospice agency
– have been diagnosed with a terminal illness
-have appropriate behaviors that do not disrupt other residents
Spirit’s Rest provides:
– private a private room in a homelike setting NOT a facility
-24 hour personalized compassionate care
-assistance with activities of daily living
-medication administration
-meals
-daily activities focused around quality of life
-guest room for families so they can be close when it matters most
We partner with your hospice company on symptom control, emotional support, spiritual care, and counseling.
Payment ranges from $4,000-8,000/ month on a sliding scale. Your hospice social worker is a great resource when it comes to finding funding for room and board and care.
Many nursing homes and long term care facilities are overcrowded and understaffed. Caregivers in these facilities frequently experience burn-out and patients end up not getting the care they need or deserve. Many have long waiting lists. At Spirit’s Rest we have no more than 5 residents to one caregiver and we are set up just like a home so residents don’t feel like they are in a facility. It just happens to be our home instead of their own. We also have a guest room for families so that they can be close when it matters most.
